Clinical and hematological indicators of cows in preventive measures against microelementosis in the central biogeochemical region of Ukraine

Abstract

The correction of cattle diet, taking into account the physiological needs of an organism in minerals of the corresponding biogeochemical zone or province where the farm is located, as well as the conditions associated the emergence of a deficit, contributes to the production of quality livestock products. An urgent task today is the search for environmentally friendly, non-toxic and highly effective preventive drugs of complex action that positively influence the metabolism of minerals in an animal organism. The purpose of the research is to determine the clinical state and morphological parameters of cows' blood in the prevention of microelementosis using the new drug named “Oximinkor”. “Oximinkor” drug formula includes lactate compounds of Copper, Zinc, Cobalt, succinic acid, sodium salt of humic acids and glauconite. Clinical parameters of animals were measured using the developed device for remote diagnosis of OK-1. The morphological indices of cows’ blood were studied by applying standard methods, and the content of chemical elements was studied by atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) using Optima 210 DV device. The animals were divided into 2 groups of 7 cows each. The first (control) group of cows received the main diet, the second (experimental) group of cows was additionally given “Oximinkor”, 55 g per animal, once a day, with feed, for 28 days. Blood collection was carried out on the 1st and 28th days of the experiment. Clinical parameters of cows before and after “Oximinkor” drug administration, studied with the use of OK-1 device, were within physiological limits. The study was carried out 1.8 times faster compared to the general measurement methods. After using “Oximinkor” preparation, on the 28th day of the experiment the cows’ blood contained 16% higher level of hemoglobin, the level of Copper was 1.3 times higher, Zinc content was 1.4 times higher; in the leukogram there was a moderate lymphocytosis, and the quantity of erythrocytes was 12.8% higher compared to the animals of the control group. It was established that the new complex eco-friendly preparation “Oximinkor” gives stimulating effect on hemopoiesis and metabolism of Copper and Zinc in the cattle organism The development of new environmentally friendly, non-toxic preparations for the prevention of mineral metabolism disorders in cattle is a promising area of veterinary medicine.
