Abstract

The research article presents data of a comprehensive analysis (conducted using clinical and biochemical methods) of goats of Zaanen breed aged 3 to 5 years. When analyzing animals using clinical methods, according to the generally accepted scheme, our attention was drawn to the presence of such heart condition symptoms as dyspnea, edema, cyanosis of mucous membranes, endocardial murmurs and changes in cardiac sounds. When clinical pathology revealed cardiac pathologies in animals, a serum blood test was carried out using biochemical methods, among which the most important diagnostic significance was given to cardioselective enzymes (aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, creatine phosphokinase and its MB-isozyme). Additionally, we determined the content of total protein, urea and creatinine. To determine the informative value of connective tissue indices in the diagnosis of this pathology, the content of glycoproteins, chondroitin sulfates and fractions of glycosaminoglycans. was analyzed in goat serum. During the research, we formed 2 groups of goats: control (clinically healthy animals) and experimental one (animals with cardiovascular collapse according to the clinical examination). In the experimental group of goats, the main symptoms were an increase of heart rate, pulse, and intensification of heart beats. In addition, 2 animals showed edemas in submaxillary and dewlap areas. In the experimental group of goats, a significant increase by 2 times in activity of aspartate aminotransferase was observed, creatine phosphokinase was increased by 1.76 times and its MB isoenzyme was revealed in 100% of animals. But in the goats of experimental group, along with the clinical and biochemical changes typical for heart insufficiency, there were no signs of a metabolic disorder in the connective tissue components (such as glycoproteins, chondroitin sulfates, total glycosaminoglycans and their I, II, III fractions). The data obtained coincide with similar studies of horses in which, in the presence of arrhythmia and increased activity of creatine phosphokinase and aspartate aminotransferase, there was no change in the level of indicators of connective tissue condition. We conducted these studies earlier and published them in the corresponding research article.
