The use of essential oils was not given much attention in veterinary medicine, which is due to lack of study of this problem in animal farming. In this regard, the development of new ecologically clean aroma oils and the improvement of existing means and methods for optimizing the microclimate of livestock buildings, as well as the impact on young productive animals in order to increase resistance, meat productivity, has its relevance both in scientific, and in practical terms. The purpose of the work is to carry out a comprehensive assessment of the use of “Barez” bactericidal preparation containing benzalkonium chloride, silver nanoparticles, essential oils of thyme, fir, eucalyptus, and its effect on the microclimate of facilities and on the organism of young pigs. The study of the effectiveness and safety of the drug “Barez” was carried out in the conditions of pig farms in Kyiv and Kharkiv regions, as well as in the conditions of the State Scientific Research Institute of Laboratory Diagnostics, Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise (Kyiv) and the educational and research laboratory of molecular genetic research methods named after P.I. Verbitsky at the Department of Epizootology and Veterinary Management of KhDZVA (Kharkiv). The subject of the research was 20 sucking piglets (1st group) up to 30-day-old age and 20 piglets up to 250-day-old age (2nd group) of large white breed which were kept in sow houses and replacement pig farms. Separately, two control groups of piglets (10 heads per each) were formed without affecting the body of animals with “Barez” drug. With the purpose of safe use of “Barez” containing vegetable essential oils, experimental studies have proved its effectiveness in aerosol application, which was carried out in the presence of pigs. The results obtained suggest that the disinfection process using “Barez” preparation contributed to the optimization of the microclimate in the premises for maintaining animals. After the premises disinfection with “Barez” there was a decrease in the concentration of harmful gases: the content of ammonia by 37% and hydrogen sulfide by 48%. Relative humidity decreased by 8%, and the number of microorganisms in the air decreased by 96%. The use of 0,5% “Barez” solution for disinfection of premises in the presence of pigs proved to be harmless to animals, which is confirmed by indicators of factors of nonspecific resistance - bactericidal and lysozyme activity of blood serum, as well as hematological and immunological characteristics of animals. Using “Barez” solution contributed to a slight increase in body temperature, heart rate and respiration, which is obviously due to the increased intensity of oxidative-reducing processes in tissues and organs.
