    Peer-review policy

    Peer-review regulations of manuscripts in the scientific journal “Theoretical and Applied Veterinary Medicine”

    1. General statements.
      • All submitted manuscripts to the Editorial Board of the scientific journal “Theoretical and Applied Veterinary Medicine” undergo a mandatory peer-review process.
      • The expert evaluation of manuscripts received by the Editorial Board of the scientific journal “Theoretical and Applied Veterinary Medicine” is carried out by members of the Editorial Board, leading specialists in scientific fields, that are covered in the works.
      • Peer-review of scientific manuscripts is carried out to maintain a high scientific level of the journal “Theoretical and Applied Veterinary Medicine” and to improve the quality of scientific manuscripts through their objective and impartial assessment by experts, and the selection of the most valuable and relevant scientific papers.
    2. Peer-review policy
      • All manuscripts submitted to the journal are peer-reviewed in the manner specified in this regulation.
      • Only papers prepared in accordance with the rules established for authors by the International Standards, the State Standards of Ukraine and applicable normative documents are allowed for review.
      • Scientific manuscripts that are submitted to the Editorial Board are checked for availability of all necessary components and their design in accordance with the journal’s Author Guidelines posted on our website.
      • The Editorial Board informs the author about the receipt of the article and its submission for review within 10 days.
      • In the journal “Theoretical and Applied Veterinary Medicine” a double-blind (anonymous) peer review is used:
    • the personal data of the author/authors are not revealed to the reviewer;
    • the personal data of the reviewer is not revealed to the author/authors.
      • The reviewers are selected by the Executive Editor from the Editorial Board or from leading scientists based on the profile of the proposed paper and the field of research. All reviewers must be well-known specialists in the subject of the submitted manuscript and have publications in the field of research (preferably for the last 5 years).
      • The Editorial Board reserves the right to conduct additional peer review.
      • The reviewers are encouraged to submit a review within 10 days, but the review period may be increased on a case-by-case basis.
      • The Editorial Board of the scientific journal “Theoretical and Applied Veterinary Medicine” developed a typical questionnaire for peer review, which is posted on the journal's website. The reviewer can submit the review in any form.
      • After a peer-review of the scientific manuscript, the reviewer can:
    • recommend the paper for publication;
    • recommend the paper for publication after its revision by the author, taking into account the expressed comments and wishes of the reviewer;
    • do not recommend the article for publication.
      • If the reviewer recommends the article for publication after its revision, taking into account the comments, or does not recommend the article for publication, the review should state the reason for the decision.
      • According to the results of the review process, the Editorial Board of the journal decides to publish (reject) the article, which is reported to authors.
      • The article, which requires revision, is sent to the author, taking into account the comments of the reviewers. The deadline for amendments is one month, after which the article is re-reviewed.
      • Unless the article is recommended for publication, it cannot be resubmitted. The negative review text is sent to the author, ensuring the anonymity of the reviewer.
      • Having a positive review is not a good enough reason to publish it. The final decision on the expediency of the publication is taken by the Editor-in-Chief and the journal’s Editorial board.
      • The originals of the reviews are kept in Editorial Board for three years.
